JOHANNESBURG – March 1, 2018 – South African-owned information technology solutions specialist Intuate Group announces the signing of a reseller agreement with Maxta, a hyperconvergence software company based in Santa Clara, California.

Hyperconvergence offers more than compute and storage together on one node. It simplifies the data centre by collapsing compute, storage and storage networking into a single dynamic tier on standard servers – and integrates compute and storage services for virtual machines (VMs) so new infrastructure can be provisioned on-demand.  Customers can start small by deploying only a few servers and then scale to thousands as business needs change – with the added benefit of foreseeable performance and economics. Maxta is unique because of its software-based approach to hyperconvergence that provides customers with a choice of server hardware and a choice of the two industry-leading commercially hardened and fully supported virtualization solutions.

“This partnership will bring Intuate Group clients leading-edge solutions for their data centres, allowing their businesses to grow as and when required with a simplified approach to compute, storage and network connectivity without the complexity associated when building scalable IT environments,” says Nicolette de Wit, CEO at Intuate Group.

“IT is asked to do more, quicker and at a fraction of the cost. Therefore, innovative tactics are required to rapidly deliver business applications and IT services while driving down overall total cost of ownership,” says Andrew Perry, Senior Vice President of Sales at Maxta. “Modern IT requires data centre infrastructure that delivers cloud-like economics and agility, but with the security and dependability of on-premise solutions.”

Maxta hyperconvergence software eliminates the lock-in of server hardware or hypervisors.  Unlike appliance-based hyperconverged solutions, Maxta enables customers to upgrade storage capacity by adding or replacing drives in existing servers instead of requiring the customer to add complete nodes.  Maxta does not require customers to repurchase hyperconverged software licenses when refreshing the server hardware.

While all hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) solutions are designed to help simplify IT management by converging separate compute, storage and storage networking tiers into a single system, as well as administering virtual machines instead of storage, many of these solutions lock customers into using specific hardware or hypervisors. Maxta hyperconvergence software gives customers the freedom to choose the server hardware or hypervisors that best fit their needs.  Unlike appliance-based hyperconverged solutions, Maxta enables customers to upgrade storage capacity by adding solid-state drives or disk drives to existing servers instead of requiring them to add complete nodes.  And Maxta does not require customers to repurchase hyperconverged software licenses when they refresh their server hardware.

“With Maxta, the perpetual software license is transferable at no cost to other servers, thereby significantly minimising the costs of a refresh. This makes refresh cycles more affordable and potentially more frequent, allowing companies to leverage new technologies and realise the related savings sooner,” explains Perry.

“With Maxta Hyperconvergence Software, our clients can expect up to an 80 percent reduction in IT infrastructure costs, leaving ample room for IT innovation as the system will free resources to focus on important business initiatives and innovation,” says de Wit.

“Intuate Group is committed to its partners. Collaborating with Maxta is the only way that we can provide the best experience for our customers and grow into a leadership position in the South African server and storage market. Intuate Group is known for its ability to deliver functionality and performance to local clients, and we are delighted that Maxta’s solutions will now form part of that offering in the South African market,” de Wit concludes.

About Maxta

Maxta is the only hyperconvergence provider that gives IT the freedom to choose both servers and hypervisors. Maxta’s unique software approach to hyperconvergence enables IT to scale storage independent of compute, run mixed workloads on the same cluster, and eliminate the hyperconverged appliance refresh tax as there is no need to repurchase the HCI software license when refreshing server hardware. Maxta is available as software only or as preconfigured solution on most brands of server hardware.
